Relationships with Jesus

Have You Noticed God?

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2 BSB).

I opened the front door and my eyes were drawn to the most delightful, little, yellow flower in our front yard. It was a totally unexpected sighting because our yard was a sea of green, so the yellow popped. And, it was directly in front of me at the foot of the steps beyond the sidewalk, strategically placed by God to show He was protecting and caring for us, as always.

The realization that the flower was part of a weed did not ruin the celebration! Did the weed represent the trials we had experienced that year- pesky things that pop up and are hard to deal with? It really didn’t matter, because I knew the flower represented the grace of God to overcome any trial.

Why would a little yellow flower represent so much? Because, I had just finished listening to a Christian meditation that encouraged “noticing” God throughout the day. Slow down and be intentional about looking for signs of God at work, they suggested. It didn’t take long for God to make Himself known.

As I put down the meditation and walked out the front door, there was no mistaking the message. Even in the midst of the pandemic God, as always, was in control and could be trusted. He was there with me. The yellow flower was such a contrast to the yard, it was as though God had planted it just for the purpose of having this moment of discovery and reassurance.

The flower lasted several days and brought a smile each time I saw it. I actually slowed down enough to stoop down to linger, looking at its every detail. It became a constant reminder of God’s love and care for our family. It was a visual of the goodness and kindness of God. Reassurance from God is a special gift to all of us. We can trust Him no matter the situation because He is Faithful and All Powerful.

Was there a “weed” in your year that became a blessing, by God’s grace? Weeds eventually die, but the blessings of God are eternal.

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NKJV).

Please encourage our “community” below with your “sightings” of God in a situation where you needed His reassurance.

It’s all about Jesus! To God be the glory!
Blessings and love, Gayle
